Who says kids can’t be an inspiration to adults?
One of the great things about social media is the access you gain to what’s going on in the world. You’re not just in the know with things happening on a local scale anymore, but rather internationally. Stories, photos, and videos are shared all across the world of some of the most inspiring events and happenings.
A viral post recently shared on my Facebook news feed led me to the story of 11-year-old Mikaila Ulmer from Austin, Texas, her love for honeybees, and the story behind her rapidly growing ‘BeeSweet Lemonade’.
Here’s an excerpt from Mikaila’s story:
When I was just four, my family encouraged me to make a product for a Children’s business competition (the Acton Children’s Business Fair) and Austin Lemonade Day. So I put on my thinking cap. I thought about some ideas. While I was thinking, two big events happened. I got stung by a bee. Twice. Then my Great Granny Helen, who lives in Cameron, South Carolina, sent my family a 1940’s cookbook, which included her special recipe for Flaxseed Lemonade. I didn’t enjoy the bee stings at all. They scared me. But then something strange happened. I became fascinated with bees. I learned all about what they do for me and our ecosystem. So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my Great Granny Helen’s recipe?
How cute is that?
After reading Mikaila’s story and how Shark Tank investor and FUBU CEO Daymond John invested $60,000 in her BeeSweet Lemonade company, I knew I had to show support and go out to buy a few of her products. I was so excited to visit my local Whole Foods market to make this one particular purchase. Unfortunately, I did learn that the store had not yet received this product and was unaware of when they would. Yes, I was definitely disappointed, but thanks to BeeSweetLemonade.com, I was able to place an order to have the variety pack delivered to my front door!
Now, my purchase was made recently, so I haven’t gotten the product yet. But, when I do, guess who will be the first to know? That’s right, you. So, be sure to check back for reviews on this product!
Thank you Mikaila, for inspiring young entrepreneurs all over the world.
