With the holiday season finally coming to a close, let me just start off by saying that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas filled with love, joy, and plenty of food. Even though this is my favorite time of the year, the hardest thing is getting back on track after the holidays.

Following all of the family gatherings and baked goods, I knew we would all be in dire need of a mental and physical post-holiday detox, so of course, I put together a short list of ways to “work it out.” Now that the festivities are over and it’ll soon be time to head back to work for good, I want to be sure we’re fully rejuvenated both mentally and physically and ready to tackle all tasks planned for the new year!

Put away your holiday decor.

One of the first steps to putting the holiday season behind us is to put away your holiday decor, which I will be doing today. This is totally up to you as I’ve met people who choose to keep their Christmas tree up until after the new year. Personally, I like to have my tree put away before then because I don’t like to start the new year with the previous year’s tree. Now, I may keep a few decor pieces out like throw pillows, throw blanket, floral arrangement, and some of the coffee table accessories simply because it’s still the winter time, so a few of those pieces are still relevant. However, everything else will be packed away until the next holiday season.

Drink a detox tea.

After indulging in some of the most delicious recipes that the holiday season has to offer, it’s no surprise that you may be feeling a bit sluggish, tired, and bloated. I recommend drinking a detox tea or lemon water as a way to begin re-energizing your body.

Get some rest.

I don’t know about you, but this holiday season for me seems to have been a lot busier than last year. My entire Christmas weekend consisted of early mornings and late nights with very little time to reflect in between โ€” and I’m talking on-the-go, non-stop. So, it’s safe to say that I am totally looking forward to getting some rest over the New Year break and I hope you are too!

Spend time alone.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are reserved for spending time with family, a lot of time. So, after the holidays are over with, it’s no surprise that you may want to just be alone for the first time in a while. You’ve spent the last couple of months around so many people that you need to mentally decompress. Spending time alone is a great way to detox after the holidays, trust me. Creating the perfect at-home spa day may be exactly what you need!

Exercise

In addition to drinking a detox tea, exercising is another great way to re-energize your body after the holidays. I mean, not to mention the new year is just around the corner, so this would be the perfect time to start working on your fitness goals for 2019. You can either hit the gym and do some cardio or practice yoga from the comfort of your own home, Either way, I guarantee your mind, body, soul, and spirit will thank you for this post-holiday detox workout.
