Home Decorating Guide: 6 Affordable Home Decor Accents Hand-Selected By XOXO Kesha

Recently I posted to my personal Facebook account stating that I wish I received one dollar for every time someone insisted that I become an interior decorator. This came after a conversation with my cousin at one of our family gatherings where he expressed how much he and his girlfriend loved my taste in decor and maintains that I should consider taking it more seriously. The status was accompanied by a few seasonal decor photos of my living room, including a more recent picture I took after adding a few new home decor accents.

What many people don’t realize is that you can make your place look totally different by just swapping out a few of your home decor pieces. It doesn’t have to include any drastic changes. A simple switch of a throw pillow, vase, area rug, or table decor can make a world of difference and give your place an upgrade without breaking the bank.

I know that when it comes to home decor, things can get overwhelming for someone who doesn’t really know where to start when it comes to putting things together. Trust me, I’ve been through it. That is why I’ve hand-selected a few home decor accents that I think look really great together and hopefully it gets you started and eases the pressure!

1. Indigo Hollis Throw Pillow (Click This Link) – $17.99 at At Home

Aside from the vase that I’m doing to discuss a little bit later, one of the first items that stood out to me was this gorgeous throw pillow that I felt completely brought all of these items together. Patterned and textured pillows are super in right now, so you can’t go wrong here. I would suggest getting a couple of these and pairing them up with solid grays.

2. Blue Hexagon Ottoman (Click This Link) – $59.99 at At Home

Ottomans are a great way to incorporate additional seating in your living room area. I’m currently using this technique as well with two gray ottomans that I also purchased from At Home for $40. Although this blue hexagon ottoman looks absolutely stunning with the collection I’ve put together, if you’re looking for a less expensive option, you can get away with switching out the blue ottomans for the gray ones for $20 less.

3. Blue Grayglass Vase (Click This Link) – $24.99Clearance For $12.49 at At Home

Every item that you see here was chosen around this beautiful vase. This was the very first item I came across and fell in love with. Faux flowers are a staple in my house, so I could not resist the thought of how nice faux white flowers would look in this vase. According to the website, this item is on clearance for just $12.49. You can’t beat that with a stick!

4. Silver Praying Buddha (Click This Link) – $9.99 at At Home

One of the things that I picked up during my recent home decor shopping trip was this $10 praying Buddha statue, which appears to be currently out of stock in my area. If you’re a person who likes to practice peace, zen, or meditation, this would be a nice addition to your home.

5. Home Expressions Velvet Plush Throw (Click This Link) – $12.99 at JCPenney

It would not be a home decor post if I did not mention a throw blanket. I chose navy blue because I didn’t want it to be so “matchy-matchy” and I think it offsets everything perfectly.

6. Bloom Room 37″ Phalaenopsis Orchid Stem (Click This Link) – $14.99 at JoAnn Stores

You cannot have that beautiful glass vase with nothing to put in it. I searched the internet high and low to look for this specific type of faux flower. I didn’t know the name of it and have since learned that they are called Phalaenopsis Orchids. I see them quite a bit and I think they’re absolutely gorgeous. I would suggest getting two of these!
