Usually, I’m a perfectionist and always looking for the perfect segue into a topic, but today is one of those days where I’m just going to dive right into it. Yesterday, I discovered a new podcast. ‘I’m Here For The Food’ is hosted by Melyssa Ford of ‘Hollywood Unlocked’, along with her co-hosts Blue Telusma and Chantelle Anderson. The podcast is described as a place where the ladies expand on conversations and topics related to “today’s every woman.” They will share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences on womanhood and trending topics in a long-form discussion.

Regina King Is A Prime Example of Why You Should Never Give Up On Your Dreams

Regina King is a prime example of why you should never give up on your dreams. The 48-year-old actress is gracing the November 2019 cover of Marie Claire’s appropriately titled Ambition Issue. For any young black girl growing up, representation is critically important. I was fortunate enough to have Regina King as a familiar face of my childhood, starring in some of my favorite movies that we deem classics in the black community such as ‘Boyz N The Hood’, ‘Poetic Justice’, ‘Higher Learning’, ‘Friday’, and ‘A Thin Line Between Love & Hate’. Not to mention, she starred as teenager Brenda Jenkins at just 13 years-old in the late 1980s sitcom, ‘227’.

Recently I posted to my personal Facebook account stating that I wish I received one dollar for every time someone insisted that I become an interior decorator. This came after a conversation with my cousin at one of our family gatherings where he expressed how much he and his girlfriend loved my taste in decor and maintains that I should consider taking it more seriously. The status was accompanied by a few seasonal decor photos of my living room, including a more recent picture I took after adding a few new home decor accents.

A couple of months ago, I came across a viral Facebook meme that read, “Check on ya’ll friends born in 1989; next year they turn 30.” Humorously, I shared the meme with a response that said, “Okay. First of all, mind ya business.” Although myself and a few of my Facebook friends had a good laugh about it, it’s true and almost surreal. This October, I will be 30.
